Module 3 - Rape & Sexual Assault: 

 

 

 

 

  • Definitions, statistics and prevalence in our society

  • Impact on the victim (female and male), physical and mental health implications.

  • Rape Trauma Syndrome

  • Barriers to reporting incidents.

  • Key risk indicators and dynamic risk assessment, important factors to consider.

  • Safeguarding measures, appropriate intervention, how to respond, when and how to refer.

  • The Criminal Justice System.

  • Roles, reposnsibilities and effective mutli-agency working through best practice.

  • SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre), forensic examinations and self-referrals.

 

 

 

    This module is ideally attended following previous safeguarding training as the full content and depth of the programme essentially

    covers levels 3 to 4, however this is not essential. The length of training is recommended as 1 day in order to benefit from the maximum

    level of input and gain a higher level of understanding. The role, remit and level of duty of care of the delegates are taken into consideration.
